How can we?

TAKE ADVNTAGE OF THE DATA GENERATED IN AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT TO DEVELOP NEW SERVICES

Air traffic management is the set of services, procedures, and technologies designed to ensure the safe, orderly, and efficient movement of aircraft in airspace.
To fulfill this mission, ENAIRE handles and generates vast amounts of data: flight plans for aircraft landing, taking off, or crossing Spanish airspace; real-time trajectories; flight phases; weather observations and forecasts; airspace structures; airways; reference points; restricted zones; maximum aircraft capacity in given sectors; delays; flight times; distances flown; communication data, and much more.

ENAIRE aims to develop new services not only to improve those currently offered to airspace users (such as airlines or general aviation), but also to benefit society at large.

Below are some illustrative examples related to this challenge. Proposals different from the ones listed here are highly encouraged and will be especially valued:

  • Develop interactive platforms that allow students and citizens to learn about aviation and sustainability.
  • Create apps that provide real-time flight status (arrival and departure times) to help travelers plan more efficiently.
  • Analyze tourism trends to better plan destination capacity.
  • Connect air traffic data with land and sea transportation systems to enable faster and more sustainable travel.
  • Develop entertainment and cultural applications, such as video games or augmented reality experiences.
  • Use flight data to track international movement and manage the spread of diseases.
  • Use fuel consumption data to calculate emissions and enable passengers to contribute to reforestation or renewable energy programs.
  • Ethically anonymized communication recordings could be analyzed to detect patterns preceding errors or misunderstandings, or to infer stress, workload, or fatigue in operators.
