How can we?

MANAGE THE SAFE INTEGRATION OF DRONES AND UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES INTO CONTROLLED AIRSPACE

ENAIRE aims to develop innovative systems with a high level of digitalization and automation to enable the provision of services for the safe and efficient access of drones to airspace. At the same time, these systems must ensure the integration and coexistence of unmanned and manned aircraft in specific areas, guaranteeing coordinated and regulated operations within the European framework.

In addition, these systems should allow for the collection of data from unmanned traffic management, enabling its subsequent analysis and exploitation.

Below are some illustrative examples of ideas for this challenge. Proposals different from those listed here will be highly valued:

  • Development of an interface that allows for smooth and automated communication between ENAIRE and the ground control station operating the drones.
  • Automated risk assessment related to drone operations before their execution.
  • Creation of a system capable of identifying and tracking drones in real time within controlled airspace.
  • Development of algorithms that ensure fair and balanced access to airspace for all drone operators.
  • Integration of new and innovative functionalities into ENAIRE’s drone portal to allow drone operators to plan flights, monitor operations in real time, and manage operational aspects.
  • Development of solutions to generate synthetic data to compensate for the lack of real data required to train artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models in unmanned aircraft management.
  • Implementation of blockchain technology to ensure secure data exchange between different U-space Service Providers (USSP), particularly for drone tracking information.
  • Deployment of a system that automatically compiles relevant data after each flight (trajectory, duration, maximum altitude, etc.) into a downloadable report.
  • Enhancements to existing mobile applications to visualize local drone identification information and determine its added value for ENAIRE.
