How can we?

IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF SERVICES AND PROCESSES IN AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

ENAIRE aims to improve operational efficiency through the development of innovative technologies that automate and optimize the provision of air navigation information and services, creating synergies with existing services and promoting more sustainable and accurate air traffic management.

ENAIRE is prioritizing the following key lines of development:

  1. Automation of Flight Information Services (FIS), such as weather updates or runway and route status, in order to streamline the delivery of critical information and reduce operator workload.
  2. Development of advanced applications for Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), with the goal of improving their accessibility, accuracy, and usefulness for general aviation users.
  3. Use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to enhance operational efficiency, safety, environmental impact, and decision-making across all stakeholders within the air traffic management ecosystem.

Below are some illustrative examples of ideas for this challenge. Proposals different from those listed here are highly encouraged and will be positively valued:

  • Development of an intelligent and automated platform that collects and updates real-time information on runway status, flight routes, and infrastructure, providing accurate data to controllers and pilots.
  • Integration of flight information services with air traffic management and drone traffic management systems to ensure efficient coordination between manned and unmanned aircraft.
  • Transformation of textual NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) into graphic representations on interactive maps to facilitate comprehension.
  • Creation of systems that enable more efficient processing and management of aeronautical data.
  • Incorporation of complementary data from external sources—such as weather conditions, bird sightings, or radar data—to enrich aeronautical information.
  • Predictive air traffic management system to anticipate airspace demand based on factors like time of day, weather, special events, and flight routes.
  • Implementation of a system to detect abnormal behaviour in air traffic that could indicate a potential safety issue.
